BC LOGGERS BLAST FUEL NEGLECT AS SUMMERLAND BURNS
Veteran B.C. loggers say decades of inadequate fuel management have left communities exposed as explosive wildfires overwhelm suppression efforts and turn manageable ground fires into fast-moving disasters.
“Climate change is not these forest fires. We never had these problems,” said Craig LeBeau, co-owner of LeBeau Bros Logging.
“A fire… instantly it spreads,” he said in a recent TikTok video filmed in the Kamloops area.
“The office and those red shirts, they’re all about the money and profiting,” he added, criticizing bureaucratic barriers that prevent experienced local operators from thinning stands and supporting early suppression.
Research and operational data confirm that decades of aggressive government fire-suppression policy have built dense fuel loads and continuous canopies across many Interior forests.
This policy interrupted the frequent low-intensity surface fires that once naturally thinned undergrowth.
The B.C. Forest Practices Board’s June 2025 special investigation, Help or Hinder? Aligning Forestry Practices with Wildfire Risk Reduction, examined activity in the wildland-urban interface, the critical zone where forests meet homes and communities.
The Board found commercial logging in these high-risk areas occurs 11 times more often than dedicated wildfire-risk-reduction treatments.
Between 2014 and 2023, roughly 175,700 hectares were logged in the interface while only 16,200 hectares received targeted fuel-reduction work such as protective thinning.
The Board concluded that far more deliberate fuel management is needed as the interface continues to expand with development.
Experts and industry operators urge scaled-up mechanical thinning and prescribed fire as high-leverage tools that work alongside, not instead of, climate and weather factors.

I hope I'm wrong.
But tonight feels like some sort of invisible line has been crossed that we didn't even know was there. The last time I felt like this was 9/11 when it was clear, without knowing the how and the what, that the world was about to change forever.
Like the rules of the game had been permanently altered and there was simply no going to back to the innocent, peaceful past.
I didn't feel like this when an attempt was made on President Trump's life. If I had to rationalise why I didn't, I guess it's because several US Presidents have been shot at and even assassinated. Somehow it was within the realms of the possible, no matter how awful.
But to murder a young father simply for doing debates and mobilising young people to vote for a party that represents half of America? This is something else.
Charlie's death is a tragedy for his wife, his children and his family. I don't pray often. I am praying for them tonight.
But I fear his murder will be a tragedy for all of us in ways we will only understand as time unfolds.
I hope I'm wrong.
Genuinely unimpressed by this.
I’ve had a few interactions with Josh. He was always respectful even when we disagreed. I’m not saying he didn’t do the things they’re claiming. What I am saying is he’s not a unique offender. There are dozens if not hundreds of pastors and elders out there who are objectively 100X worse than Josh yet few to nobody in the Theobro camp calls them out. I’m talking racism, misogyny, abuse enablement, and all kinds of division, and you just know that if that’s their public persona the crazy in their personal lives has got to be Jerry Springer level weird. But here is Josh is with a handful of anon accounts yet he’s essentially fired, publicly blackballed, and his entire conference is canceled? Yeah right. I’ll tell you what’s going on right now [allegedly, probably, IMO, yada yada]. Josh Buice hurt the fragile feelings of men in power. This has nothing to do with sin and everything to do with ego and hierarchy. These Theobro guys don’t care about division or strife. They thrive on it. They often brag about being persecuted when people are offended by them. If Josh had been trolling Beth Moore, me, or really anyone outside the Theobro camp, he’d still be sitting pretty right now. But he failed to kiss the right hands and dance the right dance and now he’s being made an example of. This isn’t about integrity or the purity of the church. What a joke. It’s about power and control [allegedly, probably, IMO, yada yada].
