IMO Musicians think of genre akin to an ingredient, an added flourishing, eg. A cumin-forward dish, a tamarind-center, etc. Non-musicians think of genre as though musicians are solely said spice/herb/ingredient: “they are (ingredient)”, they are “cumin” “they are a tamarind-band”

i think producers should be listed alongside the artist on streaming. not only did they put in an equal amount of work but producers having somewhere accessible that lists their placements could help the progression, and leave room for solo work
