BREAKING:

The Houthis in Yemen have now started issuing warnings on open maritime frequencies near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, saying that a naval blockade has been imposed in Saudi Arabia and that they will attack all ships that have anything to do with the Saudis.

Polymarket now has the likelihood of the strait being completely closed by the end of next month at 18%.

A blocked Suez Canal and Red Sea would increase the journey for ships from India and the Middle East to Western Europe from just over 2 weeks to more than a month as they would have to go around Africa.

Such a blockade would cause enormous economic damage and drive inflation.

The Houthis announced this afternoon that they are imposing a naval blockade against the Saudis in response to Saudi airstrikes on the Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport as an Iranian delegation tried to land there on July 13th.

Looks like the both the Hormuz Strait and the Suez Canal might be closed in for the foreseeable future unless the West opens them with force.
