Last night I found my first wig curler on the Thames foreshore!
This little clay object - sadly not complete - was designed to be heated to give wigs their distinctive curls, and dates to late 17th or 18th century.
Couldn’t believe how many people got stuck into clay in the pouring rain yesterday. The forecast’s fine today. Come on down to @inafieldfest and get making! Pay homage to the potters of @PottersFieldsPa@TeamLondonBdg
A special find at the weekend on one of our foreshore walks: fragment of a Liverpool Defltware char pot. Maybe next time we’ll find the fish’s head…Keep a look out @thisisyogic Reference: https://t.co/avXEnYo0Rd
Stitch in time: France to help pay for clothes to be mended to cut waste.
What a brilliant idea! Value and bring back those hand skills! https://t.co/gQ47cUOyoq
“Libraries’ value could equate to six times their running costs.” Great to see the publication of the University of East Anglia report, commissioned by @libsconnected. In the words of our CEO @HunterIsobel, this should be a ‘game changer’. https://t.co/2zPGDJX3YA

A great afternoon with the amazing Mike Webber, archaeologist, searching on the Thames foreshore for traces of the London Delftware potters or, more accurately, gallypotters, active 1660-1750. Some great finds.

One of my all time favourite set of Roman objects are these wonderful body part shaped hot water/oil bottles recovered in the 1960s at the Asklepieion of ancient Nea Paphos and now displayed at the refurbished Paphos a archaeological Museum. They really should be better known!
