A4: Teaching in a pandemic has affirmed my grading practices. For example, Ss can redo an assignment as many times as needed to master skills. I also don't lower scores for missed deadlines. It isn't helpful in assessing mastery of skills. #masterychat
A3: Grades are intended for stakeholders (teachers, parents, Ss, administrators, etc.). I think grades can be used as a tool to reflect on the learning/teaching taking place and open doors for conversations/collaboration among stakeholders to allow for improvement. #masterychat
A2: When grading, teachers who know their Ss as individuals consider the evidence carefully to make accurate, fair, and evidence based decisions about student performance. Grading is not mechanical. It is personal. #masterychat
A1: Grading policies and procedures should provide information and feedback that students can use for self-evaluation and growth, communicate achievements to parents/guardians, and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices. #masterychat
