If you enjoy building fires to keep warm in colder weather, make sure your firewood is dry.

Dry, well-seasoned wood burns longer & cleaner, so use a moisture meter to check that your wood falls into the ideal 15-20% moisture range.🔥 #CleanAir

Here's an Energy Awareness Month tip as we head toward colder weather: get your furnace serviced. A well-maintained furnace works more efficiently, keeping you warm while reducing costs and emissions.👍⚡️ #EnergyAwarenessMonth #EnergyEfficiency

One of the easiest ways to reduce your exposure—and contribution—to air pollution is to walk instead of sitting in vehicle traffic. So, this WALKtober, walk to work or run errands.🚶 #WALKTober #AirQuality

Combating pollution and promoting clean air starts with community education. That's why we want to extend a big thank you to our sponsor, @LeidosInc, for supporting the Clean Air Partners air quality education program! We couldn't do the work we do without partners like you.💚

Did you know driving gas-powered vehicles is the main way most people contribute to climate change?

National Drive Electric Month, which runs through 10/12, is a great time to consider an electric or plug-in hybrid car, truck, motorcycle, or scooter. 🚙🔋 #DriveElectric

Many Halloween decorations are made from non-recyclable plastic that can take 100s of years to decompose. To get in the spooky spirit while keeping pollution in mind, thrift your Halloween decor. Better yet: reuse what you have or make decor by hand!👻 #ReduceReuseRecycle

Early fall is a great time to aerate your lawn, especially if you'll be overseeding.🌱

But if you want to do your part for #CleanAir while you're at it, stick to manual aeration (rather than gas-powered) to reduce #AirPollution.👍💚

#DYK most appliances draw some power when plugged in, even if turned off? This is called "standby" draw, and it can have a significant impact on #energy use.

To reduce #emissions & save 💰, use smart outlets or plugs to cut power to devices when not in use.👍⚡️

Grab your shovel: World Plant a Tree Day is coming up on 9/28!🪏🌳

Trees & shrubs contribute to #CleanAir by:

✅ Filtering #pollutants out of the air
✅ Reducing #AirPollution concentrations
✅ Providing shade, which reduces air temps & cooling costs

If you're planning to tackle some painting projects this fall, use brushes or rollers for #CleanAir-friendly application.

Paint sprayers may be convenient, but they throw particulate matter and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the air!🤢

Not only is fuel expensive, but gas vehicles are a big contributor to #AirPollution. If you're looking for an easy way to save money AND improve #AirQuality, celebrate #CarFreeDay on 9/22: walk, bike, or use public transit instead of driving!🚶🚴🚌

As temps begin to 🍂fall🍂 later this month, give your #HVAC system a break by opening your windows when the weather is cool, especially overnight.

You'll reduce #energy costs, minimize your #CarbonFootprint, AND freshen your indoor air.🪟🌬️

Something as simple as *when* you refuel your car can have a big impact on #AirQuality. Fuel vapors create harmful ground-level #ozone when heated in the midday sun.😷

Gas up after the sun goes down to minimize risk.👍🌃⛽️
