@AirFairy04 I saw a new build house for sale in Fife. Featured in one of those: “What £650K gets you in different parts of the UK. It wasa new estate and featured a wood burning stove. They will be breathing each other’s poisonous fumes for many years to come.
Check out the story of the asthmatic guy in Brighton who recorded his peak flow every day for four years. Guess when he was able to breathe most easily?
Evidence from Oxford shows asthma emergency admissions plunged by 41 % as lockdown improved #AirPollution.
My latest piece for @guardian illustrates how better air could improve the everyday lives of asthmatics & ease the #NHS workloads.

Day and night, residential areas to clean air zone..when the solution becomes pollution. How many millions could have been saved , how many lungs 🫁 can be protected @CleanAirSheff@DrMariaNeira @FirstSouthYorks @MumsForLungs@StagecoachYrks
https://t.co/425KCkvbtv The lack of enforcement of new rules by LA's with only 1 prosecution & 3 fines #woodburning despite 10,600 complaints across England between Jan 22 & Sep23
Mums for Lungs call on gov to phase out domestic wood burning where alternative heating exists.
@Duin46473580 Sorry to be so negative but this is the usual walk a different route to avoid pollution nonsense. Victim blaming. Nothing about the possibility of using the data to inform policy. Maybe it’s just not mentioned in the (BBC) article.
"Pressures on household finances may be tempting people towards burning wood. But our new research demonstrates that wood burning is almost always more expensive than other forms of heating.”-

The health cost of burning wood to warm homes: “Wood burning is not a solution for reaching net zero or avoiding high bills for individuals. It is not cheaper, not truly renewable, but it constitutes a major health risk.” #WoodSmokePollution#AirPollution https://t.co/lyBEJUeUT9
This Christmas we're asking residents with log burners to consider reducing their use, for the benefit of our health, planet and Santa's bottom! Proudly working with @SouthamptonCC@WinchesterCity@EastleighBC and @newforestdc to share the hidden harms of wood burning.
@SamMGreg@tomhunt100@SteveBarclay@nowthenmag Completely agree @tomhunt100. Could you also call for @SheffCouncil to ban allotment fires?? It’s within their control and would be a quick win. On the day of the Moorland burning there were 5 simultaneous fires in Heeley and Meeersbrook allotments alone. Thanks.
