I'm at the Clean Air Council Event with many of my municipal colleagues. On behalf of the City of Richmond Hill, I'm happy to sign the 2023-2027 Intergovernmental Declaration on Climate Change.
The Clean Air Council is a network of 41 municipalities and health units from across Ontario. Since 2000, Clean Air Council members have been working collaboratively on the development and implementation of clean air, climate change, sustainability and resilience actions.
A Sustainability Metrics Program developed collaboratively with the @myRichmondHill, @City_of_Vaughan and @CityBrampton to evaluate and score the environmental sustainability performance of new development applications was featured as a municipal success story, just one of the efforts that #RichmondHill is taking towards addressing #climatechange.

Toronto Star's investigation reveals that many gas plants in ON are functioning continuously as power providers rather than the intermittent "peaker plants" as initially proposed. Expanding natural gas generation will impact public health and climate.

The wildfires, floods & droughts we’re seeing across 🇨🇦 are unprecedented in their costs to our people, land & economy. They are an urgent reminder that we need to move away from the root cause of this climate crisis: fossil fuels.

Ontario’s new energy strategy signals a growing openness to renewables, efficiency, and distributed resources. But one thing still missing: #climate leadership. Read @AtmosphericFund's latest blog on how #cities and #utilities can help:

Ontario has consistently overestimated energy demand and erred towards costly infrastructure investments.
