The Clean Slate Law went into effect this past Saturday in New York.
The law offers a second chance to inmates who demonstrate good behavior for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes in my line of work you have the privilege of working on a policy knowing the life changing effects it will have for people. Clean Slate was one of those policies for me, and I’m proud to have played a small part in the fight to make it a reality in NY.
I was proud to sign the Clean Slate Act into law, and with it, to give New Yorkers who have paid their time and turned their life around a second chance.
