SB 163 is a proposed bill that would reduce government fees for individuals applying for petition-based expungement through organizations that are working to help low-income applicants. 1/3

We are supportive of this bill and anticipate it to be heard this week. While it does not eliminate fees for all expungement applicants, this is a positive step toward providing better access to expungement for qualifying individuals that otherwise could not afford it. 2/3

Utah's legislature is in session and there are several bills related to expungement under consideration. A bill we are extremely concerned about is HB 352, Amendments to Expungement. 1/4

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Lisonbee, is scheduled to be heard by the House Judiciary Committee TOMORROW, FEB 2 @ 3:40 PM.
