Parts of the borough are filthy & in disrepair @Merton_Council must enforce its contract with @VeoliaUK, clean up our streets & fix unsafe roads & pavements
Morning @WBC_Help please could the street cleaning team remove the nappies and other flytipped items (corner Elsenham and Replingham road). Also, could you let me know what is being done to address flytipping in this hot spot? #Southfields
Don't believe the false claims, believe your eyes, believe your direct debits, believe your neighbours and community.
Where you are today is NOT your fault, but where Merton goes to next is YOUR responsibility.
🗳️ Use your vote wisely!
"We have a real chance of taking control of Merton Council." - Sir Ed Davey 👇

He's not wrong.
The latest YouGov poll predicts we'll be the largest party here after 7th May...
Merton Mega Skips will expand & improve our successful pop-up tips initiative, to make bulky waste collection more accessible for everyone in the borough.
They'll operate on a published schedule, with nearby residents notified to stop overcrowding.
To the council on @Merton_Council residents behalf. I was forwarded this extraordinary response. @Merton_Council hasn’t actually organised a contractor to do the work in the borough and doesn’t give a date when this will happen. The level of incompetence is just off the scale.
Really hoping we have a change of council next week- sick to the back teeth of the state of the roads and pavements. @Merton_Council really is useless.
Labour has run Merton for 32 of the last 36 years.
They claim to be "proud" of their record. We think they shouldn't be.
They focus on PR and spin over fixing problems and delivering for residents.
For a Fresh Start - vote Lib Dem next Thursday.

It saddens me to say it, but anyone who has campaigned against the Labour party knows that when they're on the ropes - the truth goes out the window. They're getting desperate now - it's time for a fresh start
We'll ensure residents are treated with dignity & respect – not as a hassle, with long delays, high charges & unclear advice.

@Siobhain_Mc What lovely pavements- I wish those in Lavender ward were as clean/ well maintained! We have weed filled gaps at the edges and detritus all over the place. 🙁
@Siobhain_Mc Missed on the Streets clean in Mitcham. London Road a mess and getting graffiti cleaned is impossible. Mind you, still feel safe in Merton, but much needs to be done with Mitcham town centre. 👍
We have more fly-tipping incidents under @MertonLabour than in Lib Dem-run Sutton, Kingston and Richmond combined!
It's no surprise residents are frustrated with the state of our streets. Something has to change.
Every doorstep conversation I have is about change. People are desperate for a better Merton. A borough that is healthier, cleaner, with a thriving local economy and one we are proud to call home.
🔶 Vote Lib Dem to secure a fresh start for Merton.
Not by @MertonLabour who are 32nd out of 33 London boroughs (second-lowest) for affordable housing completions in the most recent full financial year (2024-25).
The @LondonAssembly report tracks affordable homes delivered under its programmes (Social Rent/London Affordable Rent, Other Affordable Rent, Intermediate, London Living Rent, and Shared Ownership). “Affordable homes” here refers to completions (units actually finished and available), as these represent delivered housing. Starts are planned but not yet complete.
Total across London: 11,636 affordable completions
Merton a miserable 4 affordable completions (all in Other Affordable Rent).
Labour Cllr speaks out at a planning meeting saying Merton can't hack it, unlike their neighbours.
The good news, all polls suggest Labour will lose control of Merton in May.
Our plan for a Safer and Cleaner borough will focus on getting the basics right, ensuring your Council Tax funds visible improvements.
This includes restoring proper community policing and introducing fixed-schedule street cleaning.

"On the basis of all the facts in front of us, I think the Lib Dems are probably going to win this one."
Professor Tony Travers of the London School of Economics tells the BBC that, based on the evidence available, the Lib Dems are likely to win Merton in May.
Proud to be re-standing as a councillor where I live. It's a once in a generation chance to change control of Merton Council, to re-focus it away from PR and spin, and towards making it 'resident-centric' - seeing people as individuals, treating them with dignity & empathy.
