This is a selection of the 108 businesses with "restaurant" in their title, which were not able to find any Irish or EU worker, and therefore received a work permit from the enterprise minister Peter Burke to bring in a worker from outside the EU.

Whilst the great defence to work permits is the number of nurses in the health system, the figures published by the Dept of Enterprise don't allow us to quantify nurses. Around 25% of permits are for health and social work, but a quick analysis of the businesses suggest it's mostly nursing homes and home helps.

It's also worth remembering that we learned last year from nursing unions that the standard recruitment fee is €11,000 and one of the biggest agencies is FG-adjacent CPL involving the Carroll clan (Jennifer Carroll-McNeill family), and we also saw certain agencies including one co-owned by a FG councillor demand thousands in under-the-counter fees from foreign nurses (though that has been denied)
