Last week, members of the European Parliament from the @CleantechMEPs visited the #hydrogen valley in Puertollano, which is home to 24% of all renewable energy capacity in Spain, and @GrupoFertiberia’s Green Hydrogen Plant, the largest in Europe, with 20 MW capacity.

"This is an example of how to decarbonize big industry. There are possibilities with cheap electricity made with renewables,”" said Cleantech Friendship Group member MEP @nicogoncas. “This is a good solution for industry and for the planet!"

“We need more sites like this in Europe - This is the future of Europe you’re looking at!” commented @MChahim, co-chair of the Cleantech Friendship Group. “Let’s continue working like we do here in Puertollano and copy this idea to other sites all over Europe.”

One key takeaway from this trip is the need to build value chains for strategic clean technologies in Europe. And that requires more collaboration and cooperation between innovators, project developers and policymakers.

Iberia is home to a vibrant hydrogen space. Last week, co-chair @Mchahim & @nicogoncas met the 🇪🇸 hydrogen ecosystem, joined by Cleantech for Iberia Director @BiancaDragomirD.

🤝 Dutch Ambassador to Spain, His Excellency @NieuwenkampRoel hosted the MEPs and for a dinner with hydrogen and cleantech leaders from cleantech investors from producers and off-takers to investors.

The Carbon Removal Certification Framework is the first of its kind in the world. The EU is pioneering this field, and setting the standard for the rest of the world.

🌳 Deal!

@EUCouncil & @Europarl_EN provisionally agree on a regulation to set up the 1st certification framework for #carbon removals.

By aiming to scale up carbon removal activities & fighting greenwashing, it'll help reach the 🇪🇺 goal of reaching #climate neutrality by 2050.
