Scenes at Kuwait International Airport after an Iranian missile and drone attack struck the terminal area, reportedly killing at least one person, injuring eight others, and bringing flight operations to a halt.
This is true. Short story time.
Had a corporation try to snipe me last year. A man (inside recruiter AKA corporate sniper) reached out and wanted to see if I was interested in a position within the company, we discussed my background and completed projects and their outcomes. He was really excited and was offering a high salary and lots of perks. He said my qualifications PERFECTLY matched what they needed.
He said the next step is to have an interview with HR in the next few days. I said sure. Would be happy to.
The zoom call with HR was with a classic AWFUL (Affluent, White, Female, Uban, Liberal).
She asked me why I wanted to work for them. My response was 'I am not sure yet, you guys reached out to me and at this point I am just feeling it out and learning more about your company'.
She then asked all about my experience and after each accomplishment I detailed, she degraded it and minimized it.
I then asked why they were interested in me. She said she didn't really know. That while I have the experience they are looking for, my eagerness to work for them does seem to be a problem.
I then reiterated they had contacted me. I did not apply, I did not call. Their internal talent team reached out. I am not confident in my understanding of your company yet and this is not exactly helping.
She said while their talent team can find people with experience, they are not the best at telling who a good fit would be.
She then said we were not a good match and to have a nice day and hung up.
The original guy called me back a few days later and asked about the meeting and was acting like it was a sure thing I was coming over. I told him about it and he got quiet and said yeah, HR is a problem. They gatekeep. He then apologized and asked if I wanted to talk to someone higher up.
I said no, I will not work at a company that keeps that kind of crazy around. We parted ways and haven't talked since.
The AWFUL wanted me to bend the knee and beg for a position. She wanted my full allegiance without explanation. She truly was awful. HR has too much control. Fire all of them.
