He’s exactly right. Massie lost his Republican primary Tuesday by 𝟓𝟒.𝟗% 𝐭𝐨 𝟒𝟓.𝟏% to Trump-endorsed Navy veteran Ed Gallrein (Ballotpedia). It was the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 — between $25.6 million and $32.6 million across both campaigns and their outside allies (Axios; Al Jazeera).

Look at what Massie actually spent his year on: voting against the Big Beautiful Bill (PBS NewsHour), co-sponsoring a War Powers Resolution with Ro Khanna to block Trump’s Iran strikes (Time), and pushing release of the Epstein files. Every position plays to a national libertarian online audience. None of it speaks to KY-4 — the Cincinnati exurbs, deep Trump country.

Then the cavalry arrived. The Republican Jewish Coalition Victory Fund, AIPAC’s United Democracy Project, and the Trump-aligned MAGA KY combined for roughly $𝟏𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐝𝐬 (FEC data via Al Jazeera) — coordinated by people who had watched Massie spend years as the one Republican happy to publicly knife Israel and Trump’s foreign policy. They invested to replace him. It worked.

But money doesn’t move a deep-red district by ten points unless the voters were already there. They were. Massie ran a national brand campaign in a hyper-local Trump primary, and KY-4 noticed every time he picked a fight his own voters had 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 in.

Why did Massie lose tonight?

Massie went from principled libertarian during COVID, to GOP leadership lapdog under McCarthy, to anti-Trump Epstein obsessive in 2025 after tweeting about that issue a whopping three (3) times in the decade prior. The nail in the coffin for him was voting against OBBB in 2025 because, according to Massie, it did too much to secure the border.

Trump mercilessly trashed Massie in 2020–calling him a “disaster” for America and Kentucky and saying he should be thrown out of the GOP entirely—but Massie easily swatted that away and won 81-19, so you can’t say he only lost because of Trump. He went toe-to-toe with Trump on COVID in 2020 and won overwhelmingly.

Massie lost because he went from being perceived as a quirky but lovable nerd who seemed to genuinely believe everything he said, to looking like a clout-chasing influencer who cared more about getting TV time with Democrats on an issue he clearly never cared about until five minutes ago than he did about representing his voters.

We’ll never know what caused the apparent personality change—maybe it was the death of his wife, maybe it was the McCarthy race followed by McCarthy’s ouster, or maybe it was a desire for notoriety or media acclaim and a lucrative podcasting career outside of Congress—but the drastic change was undeniable, as was the seeming lack of interest in much of anything happening in Kentucky.

Blame Trump, blame Israel, blame Epstein, blame the tragic death of a spouse, I don’t care. But you cannot just wave away 2020 Massie going face-to-face with the Trump machine and winning in a rout only to get smoked six years later.

Massie’s voters didn’t really change all that much, but he did, and they noticed.

A biological male named Steph Richards has just been appointed as parliamentary engagement officer for Endometriosis South Coast — a charity dedicated to a disease that only women can have. Richards was forced to resign as the charity's chief executive in 2024 after women's rights campaigners objected. Now Richards is back.

British novelist Amanda Craig, who suffered from endometriosis for over a decade, describes in searing detail what that disease actually is. Every month, pieces of the womb lining break off, travel to other parts of the body, and bleed — with nowhere for the blood to go. The pain builds for days. It broke through the highest prescribed dose of painkillers permissible outside hospital. She would collect her children from school sitting on a plastic bag because the bleeding came through two super-large tampons. She fainted from pain. She lost half her working life to it. It took seven years to get a diagnosis because male GPs dismissed her — one suggested she might be allergic to her bath oils.

This is what it means to have endometriosis. This is the experience Richards is now claiming to represent.

Here's what's happening and why it matters.

A faction of right-wing media figures — Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly and others — have been steadily moving away from Trump and the MAGA agenda, positioning themselves as the "real" conservative opposition. They question the Iran war. They platform open antisemites. They push conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk's d*ath. They call anyone who pushes back a fed, a shill, or a bought-and-paid-for operative. They flood the zone with noise, manufacture outrage, and tell their audiences that the people actually serving in government are the real enemy.

And a portion of the MAGA audience is following them.

That's the cancerous movement Dan Bongino and Graham Allen are talking about.

Here's what makes it personal. Graham Allen gave up his show, let staff go, and answered the call to serve at the Pentagon under Hegseth. Bongino walked away from massive income to serve his country. These are men who sacrificed real things for this movement. They came back and delivered an honest message: it's harder than you think, it won't be fixed in 90 days, and there's still a lot of work to do.

The response from part of the audience they built: you're feds. You're controlled opposition. You're getting paid millions to lie to us.

The millions, by the way, that nobody can ever actually produce evidence of. Because they don't exist.

Meanwhile the actual grifters — the ones whose views shift with whatever gets the most clicks, who platform Nazis for ratings, who jump from cause to cause based on where the money and attention flow — those people get defended as brave truth-tellers.

Graham's history with Candace says it all. She wrote a glowing blurb for his first book. Now she hates his guts. Not because Graham changed. Because Graham didn't give her what she wanted and called her out when she deserved it.

Tucker was never really a Trumper. Megyn Kelly admitted on camera she was a "loser" sitting on a couch until Shapiro rescued her — and now leads the charge against him. Candace spent years as a leftist doxing conservatives before discovering MAGA was a better brand.

These are not people who built this movement. They are people who moved into it when it was valuable and are now moving out of it because attacking it is more profitable.

Question them and you're a fed. That's not a movement. That's a racket.

Full disclosure: Perez Hilton is not someone I follow or know much about. He's a celebrity commentator, popular in certain circles, not exactly in my wheelhouse. But I just watched this clip and I'll give credit where it's due — he's saying something true.

He's calling out Candace Owens for her sustained attacks on Erika Kirk — the widow of Charlie Kirk — and he's right to do it.

Candace claimed to be Charlie's friend. She worked at Turning Point, the organization he built. And since his d*ath she has gone after his widow, his organization, and his legacy repeatedly and relentlessly — attacking a grieving woman in front of the world, spreading conspiracy theories, sharing video designed to shame Erika for how she's handled her grief.

Hilton's observation about Erika Kirk is actually insightful: some people drown their grief in substances. Others bury themselves in work to avoid drowning entirely. That's not weakness. That's survival. Shaming a widow for how she copes with the sudden loss of her husband is not conservatism. It's cruelty.

Ben Shapiro has been saying this for months. Now a left-leaning celebrity commentator is saying it. When people across the entire political spectrum are arriving at the same conclusion about someone's behavior, it's worth paying attention to what that tells you.

Candace is a talented speaker. She's entertaining. But talent and entertainment are not the same thing as principle — and at some point you have to decide whether the content justifies the source.

For most people watching this clip, the answer is becoming pretty clear.
