Football fans will forgive ten bad games from their favorite player but will hold one bad game from Ronaldo over his head for the next ten years.
That’s the difference.
Some players get judged by their potential.
Ronaldo gets judged by impossible standards that he created himself. Emphasis on standards that he created himself and nobody else 🐐.
At 41, people still expect him to perform like he’s 25. Meanwhile, by that age Thierry Henry had been retired for years and was working as a pundit… and ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC had already stepped away from the spotlight. Yet people still expect Ronaldo to decide games, carry Portugal, score every match, and silence every critic.
The truth many people won’t admit is that Ronaldo’s worst performances receive more attention than most players’ best performances.
If that doesn’t tell you who the biggest footballer of all time is, nothing will.
