Grain bins are extremely important to agricultural operations and also very dangerous. Before ever entering a bin, lockout/tagout, bring two other people with you, and make sure you are wearing a harness and tied off before entering.

Yesterday was a busy day for the Ag Safety Program!
The day started at The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe for the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation Youth Leadership Conference and ended at Ridge Spring Fire Department.

Earlier this week, the Grain Bin Entrapment Simulator traveled to Darlington County, where personnel from the Darlington County Fire Department received hands-on training on how to safely rescue an entrapped victim from grain or other bulk media.

Earlier this week, the Grain Bin Entrapment Simulator traveled to Orangeburg County, where personnel from the city received training on how to use grain rescue equipment. This training is very important for this personnel as they have three sets of rescue equipment in the county.
Today, the Grain Bin Entrapment Simulator visited the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation Anderson Grain Elevator for their grand opening! A big thanks to the Centerville Fire Department for assisting us with a grain bin rescue demonstration!
Last week, even in the rain, students from Lancaster and Buford High Schools had an amazing time learning all about agricultural safety at our annual Ag Safety Field Day at the Sandhill REC!

Thursday evening, the Grain Entrapment Simulator traveled to Little Mountain Fire-Rescue, where personnel from the department and Pomaria Fire Department received hands-on training on how to safely rescue an entrapped victim from grain.

In conjunction with the SC AgrAbility, the ClemsonLIFE students spent last Friday morning building birdhouses and learning about agriculture. We look forward to this event every year and love spending time with the students!

During Clemson University's Spring Break, the Ag Safety Program spends its time traveling across SC to host the annual Pee Dee and Edisto REC Ag Safety Field Days! It is always an amazing time teaching youth from all across the state how to be safe in agriculture!

The Clemson Ag Safety Program teamed up with FNR Clemson Extension to host an equipment safety session geared toward land managers. During the event, general equipment safety for common land management equipment was discussed.
Students from the SC Governor's School for Agriculture paid a visit to Clemson University this week. During their visit, they stopped in to learn about agricultural safety. The group worked as a team to safely rescue one of their classmates during a simulated entrapment!
Our Annual Campus Ag Safety Field Day, on Clemson University's main campus, was a success! 75 high school students from 6 high schools across the state traveled to campus for a day full of all things ag safety and Clemson!
