THIS IS STATE OPPRESSION NO SUGARCOATING IT 🛑
On 20th February 2026, 14 young men in Tharaka Nithi were rounded up like criminals for doing nothing more than demanding better roads, a basic right.
They were dumped at Chuka Police Station and held incommunicado for seven days. Not justice, extortion. Police demanded KSh 10,000 from each of them to “buy” their freedom.
Eight managed to raise the bribe and walked out. The rest were dragged to Chuka Law Courts on 27th February with cooked up charges, punishment for refusing to play along with corruption.
Then comes the real cruelty, KSh 300,000 bond per person. One of them, Morris Mwandiki, had to sacrifice his family’s title deed just to breathe outside a cell. Others are still locked up in Kathwana GK Prison.
Let’s be clear, this is not law enforcement. This is a system designed to break, intimidate, and silence young people who dare to speak up.
You protest for development, you get arrested.
You refuse to pay a bribe, you get framed.
You can’t afford their scheme, you get buried in the system.
Meanwhile, the real thieves, those looting public funds, walk free, protected and untouchable.
This is not incompetence. It’s deliberate.
