Because the uni-party is very real.
Because the Democrats implement the unpopular changes all at once, and the Republicans leave most of those changes in place until everyone calms down and accepts their new reality.
Boiled frog theory.

I’m not impressed with these hearings where Republicans traipse some corrupt scumbag out and yell at him for three hours. Yeah, he’s a corrupt scumbag. I agree. So why isn’t he under arrest? Why isn’t he facing any real consequences? Why aren’t you actually doing anything?
Without capitalism, you're back to using the barter system or having to make everything yourself.
Are you a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, or farmer?
If not, you should be grateful other people are willing to take your money for what you need.

Genuinely, I DO NOT like the concept of capitalism. I don’t want to work my job every day. I want to make art. I want to be in my garden. I want to feel something.
The United States knew at the end of ww2 that it could conquer most of the world.
It also knew there was no way in which it could maintain control for very long, so it didn't bother.
It instead chose to help rebuild other countries and establish NATO.

There has only been one “winner can take it all” moment in human history so far: When America developed nuclear weapons. But because the USA was run by idiots and subversives, America did not take over and garrison the whole world at that time. This ensured that (1) nuclear weapons would proliferate, making a future nuclear war inevitable (please remember that nukes have only been around for 80 years, try to think 10000 years out), or (2) the next time an even more dangerous winner-take-all race came around (say, recursively improving artificial superintelligence), there would be no state powerful enough to stop it.
