@NealGardner_ Dembele was not perfect, but his departure completely unbalanced the team. Also, Gavi is missed. He could hide those position mistakes by doing 5 player s work. 🥲
This is SO pathetically illustrative of how France treats Muslims and Arabs.
Zineb El Rhazoui @ZinebElRhazoui is a Moroccan-born French journalist, who was a columnist for Charlie Hebdo and has always been - it won't surprise you given her employer - extremely critical of Islam.
In 2019 she was awarded the Simone Veil prize (named after the eponymous Holocaust survivor and President of the European Parliament) for "her courage and strength in her fights for the defense of secularism." Secularism ("laïcité") has sadly in France often become a codeword, or at least an excuse, for a very French brand of Islamophobia. The Simone Veil prize is considered very prestigious in France and is granted by the Île-de-France region authorities (the region that encompasses Paris).
Howeve Zineb El Rhazoui has recently had quite pro-Palestinian positions and notably retweeted a post by @BenFRubinstein in which he compared Zionism with Nazism but - important point - didn't call for Israel's destruction, quite the contrary since he concludes his post with "the best thing Israel can do to ensure its survival at this point is to hope a 2-state solution slows down their collapse".
This didn't please the president of the Île de France region Valérie Pécresse who on the the back of this retweet (as she explains it 👇) immediately decided to take back the Simone Veil prize away from El Rhazoui...
So basically when you criticize your people and religion you're erected as a courageous heroine - a new Marianne who is an embodiment of French values - but as soon as you start defending Arabs and expressing outrage towards Israel in the face of an unprecedented massacre you're to be publicly shamed and become unworthy. The double standards are all the more acute in El Rhazoui's case because she has called for the "death of Islam" since she received the prize but that didn't seem to pose a problem...
The Guardian confirms @972mag investigation that the IDF uses AI to generate bombing targets in Gaza at an unprecedented rate, powering a “mass assassination factory” in which the “emphasis is on quantity and not on quality”.

It's probably the most dystopian revelation of the war so far. All these women and children killed are literally selected as targets by machine.
@JoeBiden you make it hard to not be disgusted by you everyday.
It’s sad that you’re the only candidate for the Democratic Party.
I sure hope democrats win the next elections, but I also can’t wait for the day your potential next term ends.
OOOPS! Fox News is running a clip about brave Israeli soldiers capturing a Palestinian in gray underpants, but the report accidentally includes a shot of the actor playing the Palestinian getting dressed afterwards!
Fouad Abu Sabha was shot dead in the West Bank. Channel 4 News was at the scene moments after he was killed.
Using our exclusive footage from the day, CCTV and eyewitness testimony, we piece together a minute-by-minute account of Fouad’s last moments.
@mattfrei reports.
@wickedgamees No. It will have a massive impact on the world.
Do not forget the us lead the world. M
Anyways, you got my point. We should never sacrifice minorities or anybody to prove a point.
I’m more of a Bernie sanders and will always be. But change is coming. Let’s not go backwards
@wickedgamees Trump would do worse believe me. And not only about this issue.
Women, lgbt, people of color, healthcare…imagine 4 years packing the Supreme Court again
It would destroy more than this
Very disappointed in Biden. I wish there was another candidate but I would still vote him.
@wickedgamees If you’re looking out for the Arab and Muslim community, then you shouldn’t wish for Biden to lose.
I’m disappointed as fuck but Trump is waaaay worse than him when it comes to this community.

here. Before wishing for this ass to be president, please read this. And there are SO MANY worse things he did pass.
I sure am happy that we won’t see more of Biden after this second term if he wins. But I will never wish for this guy to be pres again.
