The future of aviation won't be imported.
It will be built.
Honored to host Hon'ble Shri @irushikeshpatel at Cligent Aerospace's R&D facility and share our vision for electric aviation.
India is ready for takeoff. 🇮🇳✈️

India loses ₹92,000 crore yearly to post-harvest waste while medicines & critical industrial parts face massive delays. Why? India has 650+ airstrips, but most cargo aircraft need 1,500m+ runways. That gap is costing India daily.
We’re building the solution.

From unpaved village airstrips to cutting-edge hydrogen propulsion, Cligent Aerospace is building India’s own Short Takeoff & Landing (STOL) aircraft — made for Bharat, built in Bharat.
Hybrid-electric USTOL architecture under development in India.
Cligent Aerospace testing battery + generator powertrain on a scaled model.
Ultra-short take-off aviation is a constraint-heavy domain:
Energy density.
Weight distribution.
Thermal load.
Propulsion redundancy.
Hybrid propulsion isn’t a trend.
It’s an integration problem.
Execution layer is maturing.
Ahmedabad-based aerospace startup Cligent Aerospace has announced the successful test of its proprietary hybrid-electric powertrain on a scaled aviation model, a major milestone in advancing next-generation eSTOL (electric Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft technology.
Shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the update highlights rigorous evaluation of the hybrid system, combining batteries with a generator, including simulated failure scenarios, indicating reliability and operational robustness.
The breakthrough comes at a time when global aerospace innovation is rapidly shifting toward hybrid and electric propulsion solutions that can unlock new connectivity opportunities for remote regions and underserved communities.
Cligent’s hybrid-electric architecture delivers the instant torque of electric motors for powerful short-field takeoff, paired with a generator’s endurance for sustained operation, a balance critical for real-world aviation missions.
Test profiles conducted with the scaled model demonstrated consistent power delivery, stable performance across payload simulations, and efficient transitions between the battery and generator modes.
Founded in 2023 by Harsh Joshi and Vivek Dhut, Cligent Aerospace is also the developer behind the CL1000, a hybrid-electric STOL aircraft platform designed to operate from ultra-short runways under 150 meters and capable of carrying up to one tonne of cargo or nine passengers.
The CL1000 is engineered to unlock thousands of underutilised airstrips, connecting remote zones, rugged terrain, and low-infrastructure locales that conventional aircraft cannot serve.
The hybrid-electric propulsion system represents a significant leap toward both sustainable and cost-efficient regional aviation.
By integrating electric propulsion, which cuts fuel consumption and emissions, with a generator for range extension, Cligent’s design addresses the key limitations of purely electric aircraft, such as energy density constraints of current battery technologies.

Once driven by a childhood dream of joining the Indian Air Force, Harsh Joshi and Vivek Dhut are now working to build aircraft from India, for the world. After years of experience in advanced aviation programmes and studying how regional air mobility can scale, the founders of @Cligent_Aero made a decisive choice—not just to work on the future of flight, but to build it from India.
The Ahmedabad-based startup is developing electric eSTOL aircraft (Short take off and landing just can operate from 50-100 m of space) for regional and coastal air mobility, designed to operate from helipads, ports, islands, warehouses, agricultural land, short airstrips, and other constrained locations, reducing reliance on traditional airport infrastructure.
Cligent is working on a 1-ton cargo / 9-seater electric aircraft to connect tier-1, tier-2, and tier-3 cities and underserved regions. With multi-million-dollar MoUs signed with logistics players and backing from Riceberg Ventures, Jaydeep Group Family Office, PIERC, and IIMA Ventures, the company is quietly shaping India’s next aircraft programme—focused on execution, realism, and long-term impact.
