Highlighting positive shifts in tech, policy, & global efforts against climate change. 🌍 #Clim8Shift#ClimateAction
My personal account is @hansbrattberg 🇸🇪
I believe that solving the climate crisis requires a shared global narrative of a better world.
And forums where people from all over the world come together for collective solutions.
Where are these forums?
In #CleanDisruption (2014), I said that #ICEVs would be obsolete by 2030.
Now, #Nissan joins a list of car companies that say they will only sell #EVs in Europe from 2030.

Rooftop solar covered 101% of electricity demand in the middle of the day in South Australia yesterday.
In other words, there was zero net demand for electricity from the grid.
My TED Talk highlights some of the progress we're making on climate. But this is not going fast enough.
What gives me hope is the number of people who are working tirelessly on this problem. It's their work that gives us the opportunity to turn things around 👇
The installation of the steel structures of the outer containment dome has been completed in record time at unit 2 of the Rooppur #nuclear power plant in Bangladesh https://t.co/XxDbA5tXcr
What every climate scientist will tell you:
Record-breaking extreme weather events of 2023 are expected at this level of warming.
The impacts on people are more severe than expected.
To keep things from getting worse, we need to stop burning fossil fuels & speed up adaptation.
Hybrid cars aren't as eco-friendly as believed, often running 50/50 on electricity vs fuel
Not good enough! 🌍

Skip the hybrid phase; go full battery unless you have unique driving needs
The Deadly Rise of Anti-science: A Scientist's Warning: many thanks for the nice pre-order sales of the new book, officially released in September. I’m receiving now the first copies from the book warehouse @JHUPress @JohnsHopkins… https://t.co/2Bm25ohgCf
@mzjacobson @MalacoDeed In northern countries such as Sweden, there is virtually no solar energy from November to January, and we can experience days or even weeks without wind.
Are you suggesting relying solely on hydro during the winter?
Old news: We predicted this will happen, but no one listen.
Good news: No, probably not passed a tipping point.
Bad news: A bit faster change than we predicted.

Time to remind people that if you remove atmospheric CO₂ via CDR, the ocean and land will outgas and equilibrate with the new atmosphere.
So, for example, you’d have to remove two billion tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere to achieve a reduction of one billion tonnes.
Some sources of electricity pays more than others
SE3:
Water 57¢ / kWh
Nuclear 55¢
Wind (land) 48¢
Solar 41¢
Water can save when price is low.
Nuclear delivers when sun/wind don't.
There's already a lot of wind in SE3.
Solar's low rate is due to Germany's expansion.
Last year, 80% of electricity demand growth was met by wind and solar.
Once 100% of all growing electricity demand is met by clean sources 📈, fossil-based generation will begin falling 📉
