NEW: Mother’s Day 2025 — people of conscience marched through the streets of Georgetown in Washington D.C., highlighting the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
“The Screams of Palestinian Mothers Will Haunt Us”
After he won the Pulitzer Prize, Palestinian writer Mosab Abu Toha was invited onto MSNBC where he was promptly interrogated about why he wasn't doing more to humanize the people slaughtering his family members in Gaza.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of addressing the graduates @UMich commencement. I spoke about the long history of student activism, which has moved the University toward justice.
Here is a video. It has caused a furore on social media & in UM admin.

Abdul El-Sayed: “AIPAC and Israel are not the same as Judaism and the Jewish people. I love Judaism and I love the Jewish people. The single most dangerous thing they’ve tried to tell us is somehow they can extend the definition of antisemitism to include a foreign government and its leaders. I call bullshit”
Thank you @RepMikeQuigley for speaking up on this vital issue in a place where it counts - as the bill providing billions of dollars to the IDF is being debated.
Everyone should stop what they're doing and read this deeply heartbreaking and incredibly powerful new essay from Mahmoud Khalil about his old life -- the one he had before the Trump administration began unjustly targeting him.

Today, in this room, the U.S. House of Representatives will prepare to give $3.3 Billion of your taxpayer dollars to Israel.
Hi, this is A New Policy's Josh Paul. I'll be livetweeting the Appropriations Committee mark up of the FY27 foreign policy funding bill in this thread⤵️
Yeah it doesn’t make sense. Just because you endorse a candidate doesn’t mean you can change the rules of the game. I’ve noticed some 0.00 get tagged “No AIPAC contributions” whereas a lot of the red graphics include “pro-Israel contributions” — which the green 0.00s have also accepted. Keep it honest !
@jacob_wass Go to the Museum of the Palestinian People @jacob_wass! super neat experience, also Nabiha DC is just next door (1624 U St NW) and the best dessert (knafeh) in the city!!
I wrote about J Street’s “cut off military aid to Israel” PR gambit which, upon closer inspection, is clearly a time-buying scam that 1) aligns w/ Netanyahu’s “phase out” plan & 2) provides a fake Israel-critical talking point for Dems increasingly under pressure from their base.
If I’m Palestinian and US bombs and weapons are killing me why do I care if the US didn’t technically pay for it. This is why the demand since spring 2024 was **an arms embargo** because it avoids this largely PR-driven pseudo solution
What is the new ask? "Do you support a full arms embargo on Israel?" "Do you oppose any new MOU outlining future US-Israeli military coordination" ?
And are there any fact-sheets or resources young people can use to back up their positions — now that the "no more U.S. tax-dollars to Israel" line is common ground, from Ro, AOC, Rahm, J St, and Netanyahu.

The Democratic Party will not move unless they are forced to move, by young people.
In 2018, we used fossil fuel money as a wedge to make 2020 the most recent progressive Presidential primary. It’s time to make a simple demand to every candidate: will you #BlockTheBombs & support an arms embargo on Israel?
those students were relentlessly targeted, prosecuted and suspended or expelled while their groups were either banned from campuses or sanctioned. the level of repression students have faced for being on the right side of history the past two years is staggering and shameful.
The number of times I would try to talk to 20s-something staffers in the hallway about anything related to Gaza and they would just say, “that’s not my issue area.” I would have to prod them three times, “it’s okay, you can take the fact sheet,” and on occasion they would take it.
@enoughformethx The galaxy of distance can be filled. That's a great phrase. It does not bring the tens of thousands of lives back — but it can begin to bridge understanding and build something better. Moving forward, it is only self-righteous to refuse to participate and engage...
