We don’t have funding or the ability to project that many forces for a sustained period. Rotations to EUCOM are incredibly taxing on MWE.

Opening up a new permanent base and stationing MWE there permanently is more sustainable. So like that base in Poland.

Also the “cult of the defense” is insanely overrated. A peer threat needs to survive against modern Western Air Forces before we start claiming the defense has the advantage.

@AnalyticaCamil1 It’s barely “survivable”. I don’t think it would have been possible to clamp the artery in the field and they would need TXA, dressings preferably hemostatic, and whole blood or at least a transfusion kit to maybe make this survivable and he would’ve been paralyzed.

Our forces are pretty intertwined the odds of them killing an American is high even on accident. That alone should be enough to deter conventional Russian aggression. You should worry more about your fellow Europeans than the guys who have been patrolling your country for years now.

Legally obligated to do it and Congress controls the ability to declare war president doesn’t matter. as far as I’m aware there are American troops throughout the Eastern part of NATO. I would know I’ve been there on that mission. American blood is almost certain to be spilled if Russia attempts something conventional against you or the Baltics if you think that alone isn’t a massive deterrent idk what to to tell you. If we weren’t there don’t you think “little green men” would’ve found their way across the border by now?

Gratitude for the promise that Americans will give their lives to defend YOUR freedom, gratitude that for 45 years we didn’t give up on Europe and as a result you’re free today, gratitude that US forces rotate to Europe to defend the Eastern front. I’m thankful you went to Afghanistan with us and I thank your country for that, but acting like we don’t do the heavy lifting is insane and then coming here laughing in our faces
