Just because psychotherapy can (in one interpretation) be called "emergent" does not mean that it cannot be measured.
Other emergent systems, such as the weather can be measured without having to isolate each element.
@JonathanShedler RCT are not necessarily looking to isolate one component of psychotherapy. Rather, they are looking to see (on average) does the intervention lead to positive outcomes, despite variation and noise.
I.e. does this ecosystem lead to hot or cold weather?
Love bombing is when someone you've just met showers you with attention and affection.
It can feel intoxicating, but it's actually a form of emotional manipulation.
