🚨 The journalist: “What do you think about Lamine Yamal’s actions yesterday during FC Barcelona’s league title celebrations, and should a player avoid interfering in matters unrelated to football?”
Pep Guardiola: “And should you also avoid interfering in things that are not your specialty? You are here to ask me about tomorrow’s match against Crystal Palace F.C..
Despite that, I will answer your question..... A football player is a role model followed by millions, and his opinion is influential, so he should express his opinion when necessary.
What would you do if you found your wife and children under the rubble of homes like them there? Would you come here to the press conference to talk about a player wearing a shirt and running after a ball?? Of course not!!
You do not choose the topics we want to talk about, so those are things outside your specialty. Lamine’s stance is something he should be proud of — he has now become the talk of the world.”
@TheRealClementM I was at the recent derby and getting in the stadium was easy because I got there early but at the first security scan point only 1 scanner worked out of the 6 that were there. We can blame fans but it looks like every derby we complain about the same things.
@TheRealClementM Can you please ask Mr Bertie Grobbelaar that in the future can they please hire better security personnel even if they raise the ticket prices by an extra 10%-30% because at this rate what happened at Ellis Park in 2001 God forbid it happens at FNB Stadium.
Following extensive consultations with several of my counterparts in Gulf nations currently impacted by the prevailing instability in the Middle East, I held a substantive discussion with the Iranian Foreign Minister, His Excellency Abbas Araghchi.
In our exchange, I expressed our profound concern regarding the escalating loss of civilian life and the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.
We reaffirmed our call for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities. South Africa remains steadfast in its position that the only viable path forward is through diplomatic engagement and a commitment to a peaceful, just, and lasting resolution to the conflict, in accordance with international law.
The killing of three journalists and nine paramedics in Lebanon has led to accusations of Israel committing a war crime.
The Israel Defence Forces insist one of the journalists was part of a Hezbollah unit, but did not provide evidence.
@AlexCrawfordSky reports from Lebanon.
