I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. The higher education - in its current form - might survive the advent of AGI if it repositions itself as a luxury good for the wealthy. Naturally, it will only be a fraction of its current size. However, it will return to its historical norm, instead of a catch-all post-high-school young-adult playground that we currently have.
