A few weeks ago, I left my job of 12 years to take a big swing on something I’ve been building for the past year. That something is IndieVoice Academy—a new educational platform where voice actors can hone their craft in an accessible, approachable environment.

But it gets even better. This isn’t just about empowering voice actors. It’s about uplifting indie creators, too. Classes are structured to co-host guests from small game and animation studios. Together, we promote their work and help raise funds so their people get paid and their projects get made.

The result? A real opportunity to give the encroachment of generative AI in our creative spaces the middle finger—by doubling down on support for the people who are actually creating. The end result is a WIN-WIN-WIN partnership for creators.

Voice actors get a phenomenal, super affordable education with live direction and feedback—not only from me, but from the creators actively seeking talent for their projects i.e. Within this format, VAs get an taste of real, on the job training in the field, showcasing and sharpening their talent in front of real decision makers, with room for potential casting!

Project creators who sign up as guests to co-host classes alongside me get free promotion, plugs, and funding before and during the event, both directly from the voice actors and from the extra eyes we put on their Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other campaigns. Direct funding from each themed class is 20%, including money raised from purchased extras.

As for me? I get to do what I love most: spreading my passion for storytelling and building great relationships along the way.
