Served Ajax as Regional Councillor, 15 years, Local Councillor, 3 years, Executive Director, Community Development Council. School Board Trustee 6 years.
This morning in the House of Commons I shared my reflections on the blockades and occupation of the past weeks in our country. Now, more than ever, is the time to focus on how we can work together to heal ourselves and our communities.
"The situation is no longer an emergency," @JustinTrudeau says, as government puts an end to the use of the Emergencies Act. PM says local laws are sufficient to deal with the threat.
The Emergencies Act exactly served it’s purpose. It was:
1. Targeted only where it was needed.
2. Proportionate to the threat.
3. Lasted only as long as needed.
4. Always maintained Charter Rights.

Driving is a privilege. Owners of vehicles should pay for licence plate renewal fees—not taxpayers. If you can afford a vehicle, you can afford the annual the fees.
Thank you for your excellent reporting. How can we teach people that a free, responsible press is what keeps governments accountable to the people they serve?
Reporter notebook: we are leaving Ottawa after covering the truck convoy/protest in Vaughan/Ottawa/Toronto/Windsor/Sarnia/Ottawa. And after seeing the most intense urban policing operation in my journalism career. 1/ #Ottawa
From all of us at DRPS, a huge and heartfelt thank you to health-care workers for all you have done on the front-lines of this pandemic. We salute you.
Some protestors have ramped up their anger at journalists. @glen_mcgregor and I were both doing reports at a camera and protestors surrounded us, yelled fake news, lies, Nazi, disrupted Glen’s live hit, one guy spat at us and then followed us as we left. Getting worse #cdnpoli
That’s a wrap on the bridge blockade story. Almost a week here in Windsor. Thanks to trusted cameraman/editor @capati_patrick for the teamwork. My colleagues @MDroletGlobalTV and Nick Vyschaft have arrived to bring follow-up coverage on @GlobalNational@globalnewsto. -30-
Ottawa residents have blocked dozens of Convoy vehicles from entering downtown. Their blockade started at 9 this morning..going on 6 hours. It is -21 C with the windchill. Don't see any propane tank heaters/ generators/or illegal bonfires keeping them warm
So let me get this straight: The Canadian women's hockey team wore N95 masks while easily beating Russia 6-1 at the Olympics...but some people are so inconvenienced by having to wear a mask that they're holding the city of Ottawa under siege & claiming it's all about "freedom?"
