Today marks one year since the start of the Birmingham bin strike.
Residents and businesses are STILL paying the price for a Labour-run council that can’t deliver the most basic services.
Birmingham deserves better.
On May 7th, back a Conservative council led by Bobby Alden to get Birmingham working again.
Police in Birmingham held a roads policing operation, supported by volunteer Special Constables.
In one evening on one road, they pulled over 166 vehicles and took action in a staggering 1 in 3 stops.
Imagine if Roads Policing was properly funded!
Whilst we had many political differences, there was professional respect between us, and I shall greatly miss our informal interactions, the efforts he made as Cabinet Member during Covid to ensure I remained well-briefed, as well as our work together on Scrutiny.

Really shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Cllr Wassem Zaffar. My thoughts and prayers are with all his Family, Friends and Colleagues at this very difficult time.

His interests were wide-ranging but his passion for his Family, Clean Air, Social Justice, Lozells, and Aston Villa was evident to all who knew him. He was a formidable political campaigner and opponent.

Archbishop Bernard reminded us of the importance of civic life, & the need to pray & support those involved in it.
Also, very interesting to hear of the work of @thekenelmyt on this #WorldYouthSunday#YouthSunday.

Ahead of Wednesday's Budget, I have written to the Chancellor, both as a local Councillor and as the Shadow Cabinet Member for Environment & Transport, to throw my support behind the "𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙭𝙞 𝙏𝙖𝙭" campaign.

Its impact would be felt on Taxis & PHVs across the City & on those who use taxis for reasons of mobility or safety, or who need to make journerys when Public Transport isn't running.
