MENESE Protocol has opened its Zero-Knowledge trusted setup ceremony for its new Shielded Ledger technology on the Internet Computer.

This is an important step towards taking MENESE’s ZK technology from a working demonstration toward technology capable of supporting real-value privacy applications.

Why does the ceremony matter?

The Shielded Ledger uses Groth16 Zero-Knowledge proofs to allow transactions to be verified without exposing the private information behind them.

A trusted setup requires independent participants to contribute secret randomness to the cryptographic parameters.

Each participant generates their contribution locally in their browser. The secret is applied and then destroyed — only the transformed public parameters and proof leave the device.

The important part is simple:

If even one participant honestly destroys their secret contribution, the final setup remains secure.

That is why community participation matters.

Anyone Can Contribute

The ceremony is designed so members of the wider #crypto, privacy and Internet Computer communities can participate.

The process takes place through MENESE's ceremony application and includes:

Sign in with Internet Identity.
Join the contribution queue.
Generate and apply your secret randomness locally.
Submit the resulting public parameters.
Keep your receipt so your contribution can later be verified in the published transcript.
