My daughter was supposed to be home by 9:30 PM after leaving her extra lesson.

I called her.

The phone rang twice, then went off.

Her last WhatsApp message was:

“Daddy, my battery is 3%. I’m almost home.”

9:48 PM.

I refreshed her location.

Nothing.

My heart started beating fast.

I called her friend. No answer.

I called the teacher. She said my daughter left the lesson centre about 30 minutes earlier.

Then, at exactly 9:51 PM, her location appeared on my phone.

She wasn't anywhere near our house.

The map showed her standing somewhere I had never seen before.

I grabbed my car keys and drove there.

When I arrived, I saw her school bag lying beside the road.

But my daughter was nowhere to be found.

Then I heard someone shouting from inside a nearby compound...

“Daddy!”

It was her voice.
