@NormanMcCloskey Shooting Astro in very dark skies will push even the latest camera sensors to their limits. I am often shooting at ISO 12800 on my Canon 6D and while it is great at handling noise, it is still too noisy for my liking...so hence the stacking.

When photos become indistinguishable from paintings the most beautiful art-form is born - these are the works of Léonard Misonne (1870-1943) and are quite astounding photographs. My favourite is London's Waterloo Place taken in 1899 (picture 1)
