@classicstevet@Pirat_Nation Who is "he"? Godot isn't created by one person, it's created by everyone that contributes. Maybe go learn how collaborative open source projects actually function before you try to tell someone how to do their job.
@AlundraFTW@shaunspalding I've never heard "semiweekly" in my life and I would have no clue what it meant if someone said it to me. And the standard term for "every two weeks" in Britain and here in Australia is "fortnightly".
@Armataan@Jupiter_Hadley@shaunspalding Wait what? No one uses "long billion" any more. Does anyone use "long trillion"? I certainly don't as an Australian.
@reduzio Stability first! No point adding new features before the ones we have are fully fleshed out. For instance, I've been unable to get SDFGI looking good in any situation. No matter what I do it looks pretty rough. There's also apparently issues with the physics engine. Etc.
@parasiteburner @reduzio Honestly, whichever engine you find easier. You can just try all of them, they're all free. I would recommend Godot but your goals are pretty ambitious so just pick one and start working. You'll soon know if you like your choice and the time you spend won't be wasted.
@glitshy@reduzio You can use the built-in GDScript if you like Python-like languages (I don't), or it has first-class C# support if you download the .NET build (and in 4.0 it's now using .NET 6, which means C# 10 features!). I use it with C# because C# is love, C# is life. Works great.
@glitshy@reduzio I don't know if it's necessarily better in terms of raw features (although it's certainly not too far behind major engines!), but it's fast and light-weight, and IMO a better design. It's totally free and just feels nicer to use. Also, in my experience, Unity is a buggy mess lol.
@FreyaHolmer I am one of those people :( I'm slowly learning to just get any code working and then, once I know what problem I'm trying to solve, apply the right patterns.
@Shikary13@PrometheusAUNLD@FreyaHolmer@khyperia I've been on both sides of that fence more than once, and I'm still certain where I stand. All I can say is, try to _understand_ the other's point of view. If you really want to convince them they're wrong, you'll get much further by understanding them first.
@FreyaHolmer @Unity3DCafe @khyperia Without a doubt, I would be confused and uncertain. After that, I can't say. I've thought about it a few times. I'm your average straight guy; what would I do if I found out this woman I really liked turned out to be trans? Would I care? I don't know the answer.
