In 30-plus years in the business, I haven't been more touched in writing a story than this one on brave little Landrey Eargle and her wonderful family, her family at home, her @AustinPeayFB family and her college football family. #ForTheLoveOfLandrey https://t.co/PD2caPuWtP

Not having Delgatty last week against Tennessee made the middle of that Alabama OL vulnerable.

[Pete Nakos @PeteNakos]

Alabama starting OL Racin Delgatty, DB Zabien Brown and RB EJ Crowell have all been downgraded to doubtful for tomorrow against Texas A&M.

Smith is as tough as they come and has played through a ton of pain. Big blow for the Mississippi State defense to be without him.

[Pete Nakos @PeteNakos]

Mississippi State safety Isaac Smith has been ruled out for tomorrow.

@SportBeatTweet Scooter told me.

[Chris Low @Clowfb]

Dale was just being a peace keeper. What a memory. Think @SportBeatTweet closed down the media hospitality room that night at the Sheraton Civic Center across the street, he and the late Phillip Marshall. I think Larry Woody and Stan Olson might have been part of that group too.

Has been able to do more this week. Won’t be 100 percent but good news for Bulldogs. Taylor wanted to play last week but just wasn’t ready physically.

[On3 @On3]

NEW: Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor continues to trend in the right direction and is expected to play against Oklahoma on Saturday, @Clowfb and @PeteNakos report.

Good stuff here by @bportnoy15. Think you’re going to see schools be more judicious, period, about spending big money on high school players. Will always be a few exceptions, but priority will be retaining your best players and spending in the portal at the premium positions.

[Ben Portnoy @bportnoy15]

Spoke with front office staffers and P4 GMs this week about the Bryce Underwood situation.

In so many words, should people be more judicious about spending big money on high school quarterbacks?

A lot of really interesting answers and philosophies:

Weigman has been terrific at Houston, and this is a great look by @walexander at how he got here.

[Wilson Alexander @walexander]

Two years after getting benched at Texas A&M, Conner Weigman calls that season "the best thing that ever happened to me."

"He has become the complete player you thought he would be," Jimbo Fisher said.

Man, 50 years ago. Absolute perfection. Seger’s voice, lyrics, music and storytelling are a fixture from my youth while growing up in the 70s and 80s. His timeless catalog of songs will still be celebrated 50 years from now long after I’m gone. “ … with autumn closin’ in.”

@BryanCaskey You’re right, and who could forget his line about Methodists and Baptists?

[Chris Low @Clowfb]

His portrayal of the Maclean brothers’ father and Methodist minister in “A River Runs Through It” was incredibly moving, especially his final sermon. “We can love completely without complete understanding.”

Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor remains questionable ahead of Oklahoma, sources tell @Clowfb and me for @On3, but there is more optimism than a week ago that he will be able to play.

Taylor remains day-to-day but has been able to do more in practice this week.

The engineer of Emory Bellard’s wishbone in the early 80s and ran it fearlessly back when QBs took a beating. Bond set an SEC QB rushing record that stood until 2004. Rumor has it he also had a little bit of fun off the field too. Well deserved!
