As a young conservative staffer, I’ve always thought of progressive staffers as honorable opponents in the war of ideas, messaging, and political strategy. I’m learning they do not think of us the same way.
This is a normal Democrat, by the way. The opinion she’s espousing here, that young lawyers should reconsider working for Republicans because they’ll be prosecuted on political grounds when her side takes power, is totally normal now. This is what they believe. They are totalitarians. The Democratic Party is the party of dictatorship and persecution.
He sat defeated after disguising himself as a woman while his people endured the war he started. His last act was desperately throwing a stick, so thoroughly trounced that he couldn't even stand. He lay among the ruins of an apartment building, the people living in it happily sacrificed by him for the sake of isolating Israel.
One must hope that, in his last pathetic moments, he understood he deserved what came next.
I was flying to New York and while boarding the woman in front of me was struggling to get her bag into the overhead bin. I asked if she needed some help and she said no. About an hour into the flight a flight attendant pulled me aside and asked what I had said to her. Turns out she reported me to the crew for sexual harassment and said I made her uncomfortable.
Fortunately several witnesses took my side and so I didn’t get into any trouble, but you’ve still got to be careful. There’s some crazy people out there who will try to ruin your life over nothing.
Leftists genuinely have no clue about human nature. You could destroy every tool on the planet, and we'd still end up beating each other to deaths with our fists.
The goal shouldn't be to destroy warfighting equipment, it should be to destroy the reasons governments go to war in the first place.
I genuinely hope the leftists in France succeed. The barbarism, violence, and vitriol they spew might serve as a wake up call to the West that these wannabe revolutionaries are serious
@KDan1903 It’s not about the wood, dipshit. It’s about the people, French or otherwise, who’ve decided their cultural history is worth less than their entitlement checks
@ProudSocialist This is what happens when you've got one of the most decadent welfare states in the world and let your population get used to infinite handouts even when you know you're budget can't handle it.
What’s interesting about Gerwig’s Narnia and other recent flops is that it seems the liberals are committing the creative sin conservatives are usually guilty of.
Conservatives typically suck at art because they can’t help but use it as a vehicle for own ideology. They hollow it out, insert their beliefs in very cringe and obvious ways, and then send it off.
They don’t trust the art to speak for itself.
For decades now. Liberals have excelled in the arts because they don’t do this.
Lately however, that has not seemed to be the case.
We’re starting to see a reversal, and I’m excited and hopeful to see what happens next.
The single most consistent thing about the modern left is that once they hear a version of events that conforms with their preconceived notions, no matter how wrong their version is and how conclusively they’re proven wrong, they will believe it forever
This is a perfect example. Unfortunately @flergernis97043 locked the replies before I finished typing.
The only way that you're actual amount was cut was if your non-federal aid meets or exceeds your school's cost of attendance, or if you're over the cap (Previously, some people over the cap still got a minimum, small payment)
So, you're either not taking full classes and therefore don't need full Pell grants because your tuition cost should be lower (Previous changes simply made the calculation more precise, rather than bunching credit hours together into buckets. previously, for example, taking 9, 10, or 11 credits would all be considered 75% level, and therefore you get 75% of the grant. The calculation has since changed to be per credit hours, so a student doing 10 hours is actually at 83%. This actually translates to more money for some grantees)
or
You're already receiving enough to cover your school through other scholarships/grants
or
You and your family are making enough/have enough in assets to be ineligible, and are simply losing the minimum, default payout (Calculated using the Student Aid Index. To put this into perspective, a 2 person household, which includes the student, that has no countable assets (investment accounts, second homes, rental properties, etc) would have to be making roughly net 80k to be disqualified for Pell. (this is after taxes and before the employment deduction)
The SAI calculations changed slightly due to the rules, but I think you'd like the changes. The first is foreign income, which makes sense. Income is income.
The second change is an exemption for family farms, small businesses, and commercial fisheries. This means those assets aren't counted toward the SAI, increasing Pell grant money for families that have them and/or making them eligible.
or
Circumstances that had nothing to do with the Pell grant changed (such as income, assets, household size, etc)
or
You're lying
I'd like to believe you're not lying. But that means you and your family are in a privileged position and should not expect taxpayers to subsidize you.
Really, the only cut here that isn't just fixing loopholes is the SAI cap, but there's little reason somebody over the SAI cap should be getting a free handout anyway. Taxpayers don't owe you money just for the act of attending school.
The Pell Grant is designed to help low income students receive and education. These changes will help focus the grants more on those who really need it
@ClownCastus@thinbluesublime Literally doing the opposite to encourage me to improve my life. Doing everything in their power to keep me from an education.
