Check for spelling or grammatical errors in your PowerPoint slides. Written mistakes damage your authority & your ability to hold the attention of your audience. They might start focusing on other possible mistakes and NOT on your message. #PainlessPublicSpeaking#PublicSpeaking

The most universally recognized, yet most widely repeated blunder regarding using a PowerPoint (or similar) presentation occurs when a speaker reads the slides to the audience.
DON'T DO IT.

It’s true that most people are their own worst #PublicSpeaking critics, but family & friends often come in a close second. However, if you have supportive people in your life who will take your rehearsal seriously & offer sincere feedback, let them.

Never say to an audience, "This [idea or topic] may be too complicated for some of you."

Audience members contribute to the ongoing “conversation” with the speaker through their facial expressions & body language. As a speaker, it is your responsibility to adjust and adapt your presentation based on the audience’s feedback. #PainlessPublicSpeaking#PublicSpeaking
When creating a speech, write out main points in complete sentences. This forces you to identify & express the SPECIFIC ideas that you plan to cover. Phrases can be vague & ambiguous, but sentences are complete, fully developed thoughts. #PainlessPublicSpeaking#PublicSpeaking
Be mindful of your articulation and pronunciations. When you project your voice, essentially you are amplifying it. Every aspect of your voice – both good and bad – is magnified and made more obvious to your audience. #PainlessPublicSpeaking#PublicSpeaking
So I learned some stuff.... There isn’t a height requirement for Tall tales, Table topics had nothing to do with furniture and Toastmasters aren’t generally expert sanwichmakers... Well I never said they were important things.... #BlindToastmastersAreCool
"I am a certified Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper." That's how Okefenokee #Toastmaster Janice started her speech on Wednesday. Now she wants everyone to be trained in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) to recognize warning signs and persuade suicidal persons t…https://t.co/DoY2FTyGlb
so, how does a blind toastmaster keep eye contact with their audience? lol. Technically we don't. I get to the speaking area well in advance and with the assistance of a sighted person, get to the centr, and practice swiveling my head left, centre then right.
