Congolese Rumba maestro, @Koffi0lomide Koffi Olomide, 69, officially married his long-term backup vocalist and dancer Cindy Le Cœur, 43, in a civil ceremony in Kinshasa on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Cindy has also done her own rhumba tracks. We wish them well.
Her husband Youlou Mabiala, was a former member of Franco's TPOK Jazz but later formed his own band, Orchestre Kamikaze Loningisa. Mbonga lived much of her life in Kinshasa, DRC, and will be remembered for her connection to the rhumba fraternity, though she wasn't a performer.
This past Sunday 8th March 2026, rhumba fraternity lost Hélène Mbonga Makiesse Luambo, the eldest daughter of Franco Luambo Makiadi aka Grand Maître Franco the great rhumba master. Mbonga Luambo was born on March 1st 1957. She was named after Franco's mother. May she RIP. #RHUMBA
