⭐️WE GOT GOLD! ⭐️
We were awarded our Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award at our recent accreditation visit. A massive achievement - we are so proud of our school as we embed the UNCRC in all we do! @UNICEF_uk
🚨 Important reminder!
16 July is the date the #UNCRC becomes law in Scotland. For now, the Improvement Service provides all you need to know about legal obligations. #UNCRC#childrensrights

‘I just want to make a change’
Acting on those words one of my young people said to me, sharing their message with decision makers, showing them that they too have the power. @UNICEF_uk#pupilvoice#HaveAnImpact
P5.6 are inspired by their work on Climate Change & Children’s Rights to be positive Global Citizens & make a change in their community. This afternoon, we spent 50 minutes litter picking in our local area. Thank you to the council for their support with this. #responsible#safe
P5.6 have been rehearsing their own gestures for their innovated writing pieces in Talk for Writing, supporting their understanding of the structure and vocabulary within a text. Great to see some including BSL as well 👏🏼 #achieving#inclusive
P5.6 warmed up this morning with ‘Wonderful Words Wednesday’. Their morning starter challenge focussed on an element of grammar from their Talk for Writing focus. A great way to demonstrate some of their learning about the Human Body too.
Amazing the impact that learning from doing has had on these learners. Every one of them could explain the process, name the body parts & their roles. And the difference in writing it produced 👏🏼
Next time, problem solving and experimenting with no instructions #curiousminds
P5.6 have been learning about the process of the digestive system. They followed a set of instructions as a group, taking on different roles, to demonstrate how the digestive system works. Then, they wrote a diary entry as if they were a piece of food, to discuss their journey!
A pupil came to me to share something they’d worked on during the holidays, inspired by our IDL. Their words as I read were ‘because I just want to make a change in the world. We’re okay here but it affects us too, not everyone gets their Rights & they should!’
My heart smiled❤️
Been a bit MIA on Twitter recently… very busy juggling working mum, Masters Degree, and this fantastic programme! Really enjoying this afternoon’s session having an opportunity to share my enquiry with some other fantastic leaders in Education! #EdScotELP@EducationScot
Enjoying a brilliant session in the Young Stem Leader Tutor Assessor training programme this morning. Really excited for the opportunities and experiences this will provide our young people with. Looking forward to the future 😍 #STEM#OurChildrenAreLeaders@YoungSTEMLeader
@StFergusSch Congratulations and best wishes to all Primary 7 pupils! Fond memories of a fantastic, lovely class who left a lasting impact on my teacher training & teaching career 🤍
Delighted to receive this in the post at school today! 🌟 Thank you so much @the_LTA for the fantastic resources, I thoroughly enjoyed the Primary Teacher Training Course & can’t wait to embed all that I have learnt to improve the delivery of PE. 🎾
P2.3 and P3.4 worked together this morning debating three very interesting questions:
1. Should children have chairs at school?
2. Should children have homework?
3. Should children play all day at school?
What do you think? #onTRACKlearners 🤔
National Children’s Day 2023 🤍 How lucky are we to be able to witness and be a part of so many young people’s childhoods, watching them grow, develop & shape into individuals with their own blend of unique talents, knowledge & dreams. To all children, we thank you 🥰
Lots of work going on to support our school towards hopefully achieving Gold Level RRS 🤞🏽I love being a part of promoting positive change within the school and community. #leadership#RightsRespectingSchoolCoordinator
P3/4 have been focussing on character descriptions in Talk for Writing. We practised imitating the story by playing ‘tennis’ with the story and our talking partners, and completed a description sorting activity. Lots of enthusiasm & brain stretching! #Achieving#Confident
A belated King’s Coronation celebration in P3/4. 🇬🇧🤴🏼We made cards, wrote letters to HRH and baked some delicious treats. We put our measuring maths skills to the test during our baking, Miss Clueit was super impressed with the vocabulary being used and problem solving skills!
We love nonsense words activities! One of my favourite things a pupil said was ‘all words would have seemed like nonsense one day’, maybe one day we’ll know what these words really mean 😱
P3/4 have been working hard on their sound of the week. Can you guess what it is? We know how important it is to use our blending skills and knowledge of spelling patterns to help us read words, even nonsense words!
