The UK Supreme Court has just ruled that my Abortion (Safe Access Zones) (NI) Bill is within the competence of the Northern Ireland Assembly meaning it can now proceed for Royal Ascent to become law. Best Christmas present ever. #AbortionRightsAreHumanRights
We were delighted to welcome @CArchibald_SF, Minister for the Economy, to the Consumer Council this week for a positive and engaging festive visit.
The Minister took the opportunity to meet with our Chair, @ClurBailey, Board, Chief Executive, @NoyonaC and staff, sharing an overview of her economic vision and taking a real interest in the work we do to protect, represent and empower consumers across Northern Ireland.
The visit also provided space to reflect together on our work over the past year and to discuss priorities within our forthcoming corporate plan, particularly the importance of keeping consumer voices at the centre of policy and system change.
The Minister spoke highly of our recent publications and research, and congratulated the team on their achievements and impact over the past year.

With 36% of Northern Ireland's population living in rural areas, we wanted to understand the transport challenges consumers are facing when shopping for affordable, healthy and fresh food.

@SeeRedWoman1@TracyEdwardsMBE@maidenfactor Wow what a stunning film of a powerful journey that a small group of women made! Thank you for breaking so many barriers and showing girls and the rest of the world what is possible. The flotilla got me all emotional 😭
@SeeRedWoman1@FiLiA_charity@ToniaAntoniazzi Great news for E&W, (now for ROI & Scotland). @stellacreasy brought the amendment through Westminster to decriminalise #abortion in NI paving the way for the UK Supreme Court to rule my safe access zone bill to be competent and upheld which was then followed in ROI & GB.
