JZ and I first worked together in 1980 when he was a teenage phenom. A great friend and colleague, a world traveler and Elton fanatic. Count the headlights on the highway Zman!
It's the final day at @3MOpen and my last at @StribSports after accepting a buyout. I've covered it all in 41 years on the job. Blessed that it never was work for me. Lucky, too, to work with so many funny, talented people. Thanks for reading and engaging. It was a good run. JZ
What a thrill it was to lead the Star Tribune Sports Department. I hope I went about it in ways that showed my gratitude and respect for the job and for the people.
And those people, wow. Dream team. The best.
Root for them.
I will be.

Even though the kid in the picture looks like a young @MillerStrib it is not ... but this is classic @Patrick_Reusse as Phil remembers his late father.
Very good news for @StarTribune readers and our @StribSports staff: We have hired @nightengalejr to be a Twins/MLB beat reporter, pairing with @MillerStrib. Bobby’s ideas, creativity and drive will expand our Twins coverage. We can’t wait to welcome him to the team.
@NorthStarTrade2@sarah__mclellan Wild coach Dean Evason thought a penalty could have been called on the play that sidelined Kaprizov, but didn't believe there was intent to injure.
Kirill Kaprizov has a range of moves that accentuate his skill, smarts and strength. Now, he's taking them to the #NHL All-Star game and skills competition in Florida. @sarah__mclellan talks to Kaprizov and his teammates about what makes him stand out: https://t.co/52aKmiho0G
