It is ridiculous that you BELIEVE we are a “democracy”.
The United States is a “Constitutional Republic” and a group of Separate States, with their own legislatures and priorities, who have conceded to this federation of states, a certain amount of limited powers so that we can function as one voice in foreign policy, and in certain areas of domestic affairs.
But each state required, to concede these powers, a certain amount of say when it came to legislation and presidential elections. That is why each state has 2 Senators and why the Electoral College was created.
If we went by a national popular vote, that would be pure democracy, and would also allow the most populous states to decide the election. There are many states within these United States that would no longer have any effect on the election, and the presidential candidates would pay them no mind.
The Founding Fathers were also wary of pure Democracy because they saw that as “mob rule”.
I learned these things in High School Civics class .. and the Federalist Papers, which I highly recommend.
@KarenBassLA How about you take accountability for mismanaging resources, hiring fire chiefs based on gender and not by merit, and stop fighting the victims of your failed administration.
Remember when Trump pulled $4B in California high-speed rail funding and Newsom sued calling it a political attack? Turns out California never did the one thing it promised the feds and a federal judge it'd do in exchange for the money: Buy the trains. https://t.co/XLm7ZI9F5t
.@benshapiro perfectly encapsulates the self-loathing and faux empathy that led to the rise of Mamdani and his merry band of 9-11 revisionists:
“When western civilization decides the real threat is not our enemies – it’s us…
When we decide that “Islamophobia” is the problem- not radical Islam…
When we decide to open our doors to people who hate us and then teach our kids that we are the bad guys…
It turns out the barbarians take over.
And they wear slick suits, and they smile smarmy smiles, and they repeat platitudes about how they love America, but meanwhile they say, ‘We need to end America as we know it.’”
Cannot make this up, either.
@nytimes opinion has had four recent pieces about fatherhood and masculinity, with six authors:
Three women
A trans "man"
Two childless men
Not one father. The cultural elite contempt for dads runs so deep we don't even get to speak for ourselves.
Britain now arrests more people for social media posts than China, Russia, and Turkey combined nearly matching the rest of the top 10 countries combined
Britain really leads the world on these thought crimes
Insane how the UK, which used to be a free country, turned out to be so totalitarian
