@LBC @mrjamesob (8) Uni isn’t appealing to most anyway due to the high loans they’d have to pay back, so why would it be more appealing now if tighter restrictions are there with grades they already struggle to get. We’re not supporting people to get to higher paid roles by restricting knowledge

@LBC @mrjamesob (6) Having no grades from school already loses hope as you know you aren’t achieving what you should already be achieving like everyone else. Everyone deals with their teen yrs differently too. Focus in class is effected by social network and home support. The exams are too hard

@LBC @mrjamesob 5) If it wasn’t for free College and Foundation Courses or Uni Loans, I would not have become a Teacher. Who knows what I would have become. I had no positive supportive role model and only always known poor or to have low goals. But there was hope with the opportunities given

@LBC @mrjamesob 4) Started PE Teacher Training aged 29 as I had to find alternative routes into Teaching as I didn’t get the grades at age 16?! 13 yrs later! A difficult journey even with the opportunities to help support my lack of grades. How hard will it be now for those already struggling.

@LBC @mrjamesob (3) Fulltime TA, studied GCSE Maths, passed after 2 tries & remark for 2 marks!! Became Unqualified Teacher of SEN for 2yrs, couldn’t complete Primary Teacher Training due to no GCSE Science. Completed Secondary PE Teacher Training Yr only needed GCSE Maths English, ADHD found.

@LBC @mrjamesob (2) Left school with no GCSE Maths or Science, went to college did BTEC Sport and Fitness 3yrs. Didn’t get grades for Uni, had to do Maths exam and Science Foundation Yr to get in. Failed 1st Yr, Dyslexia found. Retook failed yr 2hrs pw. 5yrs at Uni, Graduate with 2:1 !!

@LBC @mrjamesob (1) 👋🏻 Teacher here who didn’t get assumed gcse grades at 16 due to various reasons effecting my attitude to learning. Father died 2 weeks into year 11 effecting focus and emotions, I struggled with learning due to unknown diagnosis of dyslexia and adhd, messy traumatic home life

@LBC @RachelSJohnson Also he’s a role model to young children who all want to be footballers or YouTubers in this current day and if they see this type of behaviour is ok then they will follow. We should be praising positive role models, not making excuses like silly mistakes and letting this look ok

@sarahberrybop @jimmycarr There doesn’t need to be a rule for that when people with adhd have fidgeting tendencies and you have no idea if they have adhd or not. Not saying she does but who knows. Some people just fidget?? Maybe the camera angle can be changed or a different chair to sit on.
