The fact that Jupiter’s opposition lined up perfectly with this event is beautiful 🥹
For those of you who don’t know, opposition means a planet is on the opposite side of Earth from the Sun, so you could draw a straight line from the sun to Earth to Jupiter, all in alignment.
Tomorrow, an incredibly rare, once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event is happening! Jupiter will be its closest to Earth since 1963! Along with opposition, it’ll be SO bright, you’ll be able to see its bands and some moons just with binoculars!
This won’t happen again until 2129!
