Verbum Dei transforms lives. Tonight, the legends reminded us why. Every story led back to Coach Lalo Mendoza — a man who changed generations through belief and love. His legacy lives on through Verbum Dei greats.
It was a privilege to honor them. 🦅

You know it’s a good day when the surprises actually stay a secret.
We teamed up with the real MVP, Lacy Leonard to pull one over Mr. Louis Leonard. Seeing the smile on Louis Leonard’s face was the highlight of the night. He is batting Parkinson’s. To see him and his family surprised brought tears to the eyes of many in attendance. Louis attended Fresno State University and retired a Cleveland Brown.
We also honored our legendary student-athletes because, let’s be honest, the talent at Verbum Dei reaches beyond recognition! @CoachBKU@hardynickerson, thank you for being such amazing fathers and mentors to our community.
What a day to be an Eagle!
Thank you @ParksGary73 and everyone else who is putting this ceremony together. Cannot wait to be surrounded by family again and share this moment with someone I have always respected. @hardynickerson thank you for paving the way and showing me how it’s done 🦅 @verbumdeijesuit
Have you secured your spot for the Power 106 Celebrity Basketball Game yet? The night is going to be amazing.
Additionally, We’re making the night even more special as we raise the jerseys of Kenechi Udeze and Hardy Nickerson into the rafters!
Honoring two Verbum Dei legends, @CoachBKU and @hardynickerson
on Thursday, May 7th. It’s going to be an amazing night. Former teammates, friends and family, join the celebration!
As the Pro Football Hall of Fame continues to celebrate Black History Month, we recognize Alan Page, 1971 NFL MVP, who served 22 years as a Justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
