Between stimulus and response is our greatest power- the freedom to choose our response. Christian. Husband. Father. Head Football Coach at Diman RVTHS.
This dad takes issue with people who seem to think some kids just pop out of the womb with good manners, like it's pure luck that his kids are well behaved.
5 phases to every tackle:
1. Tracking/positioning. Can be trained in spring against live opposition. Any 1v1 situation with the objective of getting square and tagging off on the ball carrier's knees/hips/triceps depending on what type of tackle you're going for.
2 & 3 together: Preparation and connection- preparatory dip, triple extension into the ball carrier and strong squeeze/connection. This is where all the concussion risk is, and where the NCAA regs prevent full intensity/specificity.
Go with shield hits against semi-resisting ball carriers. 2-3 step approach, some misdirection from the shield holder, tackler has to get a strong shoulder punch/connection, same shoulder/same foot, with a strong squeeze around knees/hips/triceps depending on tackle type.
Extra points for a shield like this because the only way to do it right is dip THEN rise into the hit (drill constraints as I said):
Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer received a phone call from Eagles HC Nick Sirianni last month asking to interview Cowboys OC Klayton Adams.
Here’s how that conversation went 😂
I am beyond blessed and grateful to announce that I will be continuing my althetic and academic career at Nichols College. I wanna thank Coach Marino and Coach Nee and the rest of the Bison Staff for believing in me.

Seekonk got a good one! As a coworker at Diman, I’ve seen Brendan’s work ethic firsthand. As a Seekonk resident, I could not be more thrilled with this hire!
I am excited to announce that I have accepted an offer to become the next Head Coach of Seekonk High School Football.
I am thrilled to continue working with the special players that make up our program!
Time to get to work! @SeekonkWarrior#STRIKE#ForTheKonk#HHNQ
High school sports... make them special-- be vulnerable-- open your program up to the parents. Either give the parents a role- or they will give themselves a role. You pick the culture of your program.
@BrendanKurie@CoachL_BHS Definitely part of the problem but the bigger problem is Catholic Memorial not being D1. Yes their enrollment isn’t quite as large as the Division 1 schools, but they have multiple Scholarship players every year. Teams appeal their alignment to avoid them
“There’s nothing balanced about 50% Run and 50% Pass - that’s 50% stupid.
What is balanced is if you have 5 skill positions and all 5 are contributing the offensive effort in a somewhat equal fashion.”
-Mike Leach (on Offensive Balance)
Diman Football is looking for a Week 3 Opponent (9/25). We will come to you, as we already have 5 home games scheduled.
Looking for a competitive team to give both programs a good test!
