Happy birthday to former Guthrie, Missouri and Minnesota Vikings linebacker Kentrell Brothers, born on this day in Guthrie in 1993.

Brothers was a First-Team All-State selection as a senior and was The Oklahoman's Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 after making 100 tackles and 19 sacks, helping the BlueJays go 11-2, win District 5A-1 and advance to the Class 5A semifinals.

He also played receiver on offense, catching 63 passes for 1,304 yards and 18 touchdowns. In his career, Brothers made 268 tackles, 51 sacks and had 156 catches for 2,984 yards and 44 touchdowns on offense.

A three-sport athlete, Brothers also played basketball and tennis.

Brothers chose Missouri over more than a dozen other scholarship offers and after a redshirt freshman year, he became a starter as a sophomore, making 70 tackles, a sack and intercepting three passes.

As a junior, he earned second-team All-Southeastern Conference after leading the team with 122 tackles along with 1 sack and three forced fumbles.

He followed that up by earning First Team All-SEC and Second-Team All-American as a senior, recording an NCAA-best 152 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and forcing one fumble.

The Minnesota Vikings picked Brothers in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in the NFL, making 55 tackles and one sack.
