The idea of perfect balance is the wrong goal.
-Stop trying to be great at everything
-Figure out what matters to you most
-Evaluate tradeoffs
-Communicate with loved ones
-Direct your energy accordingly
-Adjust over time
Drop the weight of balance and see how you feel.
For many of the most interesting and fulfilled people:
When you zoom in on any single period of their lives they don't look balanced.
But when you zoom out and look across their lives, they are quite balanced.
They have different seasons for emphasizing different things.
Once you shed the illusion of "balance" you can begin to prioritize.
It can be hard to prioritize, no doubt.
But it's a wonderful feeling when you give yourself permission to go all-in on what matters most to you, even if means leaving some other stuff behind.

@CoachM_AOFhoops
Plays like a coach’s son
Master class screen setter, boxing out and talking on defense
Pretty long ball off his pick-n- pops
We've been taught that there was an ideal defensive stance, but those teachings hadn't changed since the two-handed push shot. Imagine if shooting technique never changed. I believe the same change is possible in defense. There are better stances: Forward and Upward.
Delayed gratification increases the mass of your desire for that thing.
I’m seeing some correlations with Newton’s 2nd law of motion.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
Like a slingshot, I wonder if potential energy from the sling being pulled back is similar to an increase in stored-up desire.
Increased desire increases:
- Cognitive focus
- Emotional intensity & attachment
- Motivation and goal-oriented behavior
- Satisfaction (when the goal is attained)
- Changes in priorities and decision-making
I’m wondering if once that sling is converted into kinetic energy, which causes motion, do those principles:
- apply to the speed of travel when actively attaining that goal
- make the pursuit of that goal more streamlined
- make the pursuit of that goal more purposeful
- make the attainment of that goal more satisfying
Will build out the hypothesis further and add findings on an adhoc basis.

Watching a girl that's dying, smiling, that's what it's really all about. Having that faith.”

@chrisgrant14a @BBLCEO@FeeMc1987 Hi Chris, it was great meeting you yesterday in Canary Wharf. Thank you for taking the time before your meeting to speak with our basketball students @CoLABasketball. Excited to hear more about the growth of the game 🏀🇬🇧
Absolutely hate what the combination of the award of the additional “Covid Year” and the Transfer Portal has done to the 2022-25 High School classes. So many kids missing out that in any other year are scholarship athletes. The NCAA really missed on both decisions IMO!!
DOMS after not being in the gym for a while is analogous to life and habit forming.
Starting something new feels rough at first. The pain can make you want to slow down.
But research shows that:
Increased volume = faster skill proficiency.
It’s the time to actually lean in.
🚨 Hot take: I believe that we don’t have to live in the office to make it in this business. Don’t grind yourself away and never take a break. REST is good. We were created to rest & work. Take a break more often. You don’t have to “earn” rest!

Even though this was the fifth #WEABL playoff final for @CoLABasketball, Gibbons says it’s not about him or the other coaches but about giving as many players to opportunity to have the limelight
