This week, @CCMMSRedwolves, the Characteristic of an Innovator we used in PE was Willingness to Try. Hockey was a new sport for many students, and I saw lots of excitement in my class to learn new skills!
Last week, in PE, we used the Communicative and Collaborative Characteristics of an Innovator to build relationships with teammates and work toward success. We used various types of balls and nets to reach all levels of learners. @CCMMSRedwolves
We are so excited for the Olympics to start this week! We are having our own PE Olympics with 4 new games each week. This weekโs games are scooter curling, icicle (javelin) throw, gym ski jump, and Olympic flame relay. @BuckhornCreekES
Air (knee) Hockey! Each player gets 1 point every time they hit their classmates side. We also play this game using dome cones, instead of knee hockey sticks.
Freeze Floorball! Kindergarteners are using stick-handling skills to go through the โgatesโ, but when the music stops, they have to freeze and control the ball.
This new cool down reviews the PE activities. Each student does the yoga pose to show how they think their class used the @PosProject character strength. They also are able to self-reflect on their own feelings and performance. @BuckhornCreekES
We are progressing from stick handling and safety, to passing and positive communication! This game is called Precise Pass and Shoot! First, stop ball on the spot, and then shoot. @BuckhornCreekES
Safety Shoot-out! 4th and 5th graders are focusing on how to be safe while playing hockey and floorball. Each class helps me make their own safety cues for stick handling and defense.
Floorball Frenzy! Each team works to collect the most balls for their team using stick handling skills. When the balls are gone from the middle, they can try to steal balls from other teams.
