Congrats to John Kaufman, Athletic Director at Winfield High School and Middle School, on being named the KIAAA Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association AD of the Week!
A 2000 graduate of Winfield High School, Kaufman has proudly served his hometown district for more than a decade. After earning his bachelorβs degree in Sports Management and Education from the University of Kansas in 2005, he returned to Winfield in 2011 as an assistant AD. In 2020, he was promoted to athletic director, overseeing both the high school and middle school.
A former three-sport athlete, Kaufman is passionate about giving back to the community where he grew up. He values communication, organization, and creating a family atmosphere where kids and coaches are supported to succeed both now and in life.
βThe most rewarding part of this job is seeing kids and coaches succeed and building lasting relationships,β Kaufman says. βAthletics play such an important role in creating school spirit and pride in our community.β
Kaufman and his wife, Kiersten, have two sons, Jett (12) and Christian (9).
Join us in recognizing John Kaufman for his outstanding leadership and impact on Kansas high school activities! π

The Great Plains Swim Club is looking for coaches here in Winfield for the school year! If youβre interested I can get you in touch with the right people. This is a great local option for continued swimming in our community, and one we want to keep, but they need a local coach!
β’50 Free: Our boy Corden Cuington swam OUT OF HIS MIND and landed the title of STATE CHAMPION in the 50 freestyle!!! The first state champion for Winfield in over a decade! When I tell you the coaching staff and Cordenβs teammates were going INSANE when cheering for him!!
Further Details from the State Finals:
The state meet this weekend concluded one of the most remarkable seasons that I have ever experienced in my 10 years of coaching and 13 years of swimming! These boys competed with everything they had and made some amazing accomplishments:
It is officially that time of year!!!! Time to get the band back together!! ππ»ββοΈπ
